Atmospheric coastal scene depicting waves breaking onto a sandy beach, low wooden posts in the water and a sailing vessel offshore. Painted in muted green, blue and sandy tones beneath a cloudy sky. Signed lower right. Presented in a moulded gilt-coloured frame.

Bio:
Lauritz Sørensen (1882–1952) was a Danish marine painter whose subjects were drawn mainly from the Limfjord and the North Sea coast. He depicted fishing vessels, sailing ships and smaller boats in Danish waters. Biographical information about the artist is limited, and according to Galleri Northern Spirit, he is not included in Weilbach’s Dictionary of Danish Artists. His paintings have nevertheless enjoyed popular appeal and regularly appear at auction.
