Bio:
Meissen was founded in 1710 in Saxony, Germany, and is recognised as Europes first manufacturer of hard-paste porcelain. The factory quickly gained international recognition for its craftsmanship, artistic decoration and exceptional quality. The celebrated Blue Onion pattern was developed around 1730 and drew inspiration from Chinese blue-and-white porcelain. Despite its name, the design primarily depicts stylised flowers and fruits rather than actual onions. Meissens crossed swords emblem has been used since the 1720s and is among the oldest porcelain trademarks in the world. The Blue Onion pattern remains one of the factorys most recognisable and sought-after decorations.
