Bio:
Henry Heerup (1907–1993) was a Danish painter, sculptor, and printmaker and a central figure in Danish modernism. Associated with the CoBrA movement, he developed a distinctive naïve visual language characterised by humour, imagination, and symbolism. Animals, flowers, love, and the cycle of life are recurring themes in his work, where simplified forms and vibrant colours create an immediate and poetic expression. Working across painting, printmaking, and sculpture, Heerup is particularly celebrated for his highly personal artistic universe, in which motifs from nature take on universal and human significance.
