Bio:
Maria Roclore (1934–2021) was a French visual artist born in Bourges who worked across painting, mixed media, assemblage, and sculpture. Her works frequently employ layering, repetition, signs, and fragmented figures, and her oeuvre includes a series of works whose titles explore the concept of “codage”, or coding. Roclore also worked as a sculptor and participated in interdisciplinary artistic projects; in 1978, for example, she was involved in a project at the Maison des Arts de Créteil with choreographer Karin Waehner and composer Françoise Barrière. Her work is also represented in the collection associated with the Museo de la Solidaridad Salvador Allende.
