Modernist landscape composition depicting windblown trees within an open, atmospheric terrain. Executed in a light and nuanced palette of green, ochre, grey and white tones, with free, textural brushwork. The slender diagonal tree trunks introduce movement into the composition, while the pale background gives the landscape a hazy and airy quality. Signed.

Bio:
Göta Fogler (1919–1992) was a Swedish painter born in Nässjö. She studied at Skånska målarskolan in Malmö in 1943, under Gotthard Sandberg in Falsterbo in 1945, at Otte Skölds painting school in Stockholm in 1946–47, and at the Académie de la Grande Chaumière in Paris in 1948. Travel played an important role in her artistic development, with Spain and the Swedish island of Öland providing particular inspiration through their landscapes, light and colour. Her body of work includes landscapes, figurative subjects and still lifes, frequently approached through a modernist treatment of colour and natural forms. Jönköping County Museum holds Foglers 1962 painting “Spanien II” in its collection.
