Handwoven rya carpet in pure wool with a dense pile and a geometric pattern in olive green, brown, beige, cream and pale blue tones. The composition is formed by horizontal patterned bands surrounded by angular geometric shapes and finished with light fringes at both ends.

Origin: Sweden.
Material: Pure wool.
Dimensions: L. 140 cm including fringes, W. 64 cm.
Period: Circa 1970s.
Condition: Excellent condition with minor signs of wear.

Bio:
Rya is a traditional Nordic weaving technique in which wool knots are tied onto a woven foundation, creating a characteristically dense and tactile surface. In Sweden, the technique was further developed throughout the 20th century and became prominent in textile art and interior design. During the 1960s and 70s, rya textiles were often produced in pure wool with geometric patterns, earthy colours and pronounced variations in texture and pile.
