Dramatic, abstracted landscape executed in oil on board with pronounced impasto brushwork and an expressive visual language. The composition depicts an approaching storm through an intense blue sky above dark green and red landscape fields, punctuated by lighter yellow, turquoise and pink accents. Strong colour contrasts and energetic brushwork reinforce the dramatic and atmospheric character of the scene. Signed and titled “Oväder kommer”. Provenance: artists studio.

Bio:
Lars Bertil Bertle (1925–2026) was a Swedish modernist painter from Helsingborg. Largely self-taught, he did not devote himself to painting full-time until the late 1960s. His work is distinguished by vivid colour and an expressive approach, ranging from southern Swedish landscapes, still lifes and figures to strongly abstracted compositions. Bertle is represented in the collection of Helsingborg Museum, which includes, among other works, an abstract oil painting from his Aniara series.
