Svend Hammershøi for Kähler, vase.Hand-thrown ceramic vase with a teardrop-shaped body, tall slender neck, and small modeled handles at the shoulders. Finished with a glossy uranium glaze in warm golden-yellow tones with natural variations in the glaze.
Origin: Denmark.
Designer: Svend Hammershøi.
Material: Ceramic with uranium glaze.
Dimensions: H. 19 cm, D. 9 cm.
Period: 1930s.
Condition: Very good condition with minor signs of wear.
Bio:
Svend Hammershøi (1873–1948) was a Danish painter and ceramicist and one of the most significant artists associated with Kähler’s workshop in Næstved. His ceramic works are known for their harmonious, often classically inspired forms and his assured treatment of profiles, ornamentation, and glazes. He worked with Kähler for a large part of his career, creating a wide range of distinctive forms. The yellow uranium glazes are among the notable glazes used at Kähler.
