Bio:
Orla Muff (1903–1984) was a Danish painter and stage designer who studied at the Copenhagen Technical School from 1917–21 under theatrical painter Carl Lund. Early in his career, he designed sets and costumes for theatres in Copenhagen, Oslo, Stockholm and Berlin, including productions associated with Max Reinhardt. From the early 1930s onwards, he increasingly concentrated on easel painting, producing portraits, large figurative compositions and abstract works. His figurative paintings are often characterised by stylised forms, Art Deco influences and occasional mythological subjects combined with abstract pictorial backgrounds.
