Bio:
Pia Schutzmann (b. 1940 in Bergamo, Italy) is a Danish painter, printmaker and sculptor who studied at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts’ Graphic School in Copenhagen from 1970 to 1977 under Professor Palle Nielsen. Her early works were often monochromatic and restrained, while her later practice developed a stronger and more adventurous use of colour. Schutzmann works across painting, printmaking, drawing and sculpture and has been a member of the Danish artists’ association Koloristerne since 1984. She is also known for her portraiture, including portraits of Queen Ingrid and Louisiana founder Knud W. Jensen.
