Bio:
Jan Miense Molenaer c. 1610–1668 was a Dutch painter from Haarlem and a notable representative of Dutch Golden Age genre painting. He was particularly known for lively interiors, tavern scenes, musical companies, and depictions of everyday life. Molenaer became a member of the Haarlem Guild of Saint Luke in 1634 and married the painter Judith Leyster in 1636. His work ranges from carefully modelled figure scenes to compositions with a freer handling and is closely associated with the artistic tradition of Haarlem and Frans Hals.
