Meissen Blue Onion, set of three deep pasta plates.Three hand-painted deep porcelain plates decorated with the classic Blue Onion pattern in underglaze cobalt blue. Early twentieth century. Marked with the Meissen crossed swords and cancelled with two incised lines.
Origin: Germany.
Material: Porcelain.
Dimensions: H. 4 cm, D. 22 cm.
Period: Early 20th century.
Condition: Excellent condition with minor signs of wear.
Bio:
Meissen Porcelain was founded in 1710 in Meissen, Saxony, and was the first porcelain manufactory in Europe. The factory became world-renowned for its hand-painted porcelain and exceptional craftsmanship. The Blue Onion pattern, known as Zwiebelmuster, was introduced in the eighteenth century and remains among the companys most sought-after designs. The crossed swords have served as the factorys official trademark since the 1720s.
