Bio:
Antonio Nicolo Gasparo Jacobsen (1850–1921) was a Danish-born American marine painter. Born in Copenhagen and trained at the Royal Danish Academy, he emigrated to the United States in 1873. Settling in the New York area, he specialized in ship portraits and became known for his precise and documentary-style depictions of both sailing and steam vessels. With more than 6,000 works, he is considered one of the most prolific marine artists in history.
