Bio:
Robert Graham (1938–2008) was an American sculptor and graphic artist born in Mexico City and raised in California. He studied art at San Jose State University and the San Francisco Art Institute. Graham worked primarily in a figurative tradition and became especially known for his naturalistic bronze sculptures of the human body, often inspired by classical sculpture and modern figure studies. During the early 1970s he also produced graphic works and lithographs focusing on studies of the human figure. He later achieved international recognition for large-scale public sculptures, including the ceremonial Olympic Gateway for the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum (1984) and monumental portrait busts of cultural and political figures.
