Martin Pauson (1861 - 1934) Germany: Beer stein with "Münchner Kindl", which is a monk. Hand-painted bisque porcelain. Mug with handle and spout of pewter, in the shape of the Frauenkirche. At the bottom lithophane with city motif. Signed: Martin Pauson, Munich. Height.: 22 cm.Perfect condition!
The company was established in Munich in 1880. Upon Pauson's death in 1934, his wife's brother Hugo Aufseesser took over the company. After the Nazis came to power in 1933, the Jewish family was forced to sell the company in 1938, and it was taken over as a German company and managed by Fritz Haertle. The company was completely bombed out early in 1945 but later reconstructed. Several members of the family died in the Nazi concentration camps.
