Bio:
René de Saint-Marceaux (1845–1915) was a French sculptor trained at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris. He debuted at the Salon in 1868 and gained recognition for his portrait busts and monumental sculptures. Working in a refined naturalistic style, he was known for psychological sensitivity and detailed modelling. He became a member of the Académie des Beaux-Arts and is regarded as an important figure in late nineteenth-century French sculpture.
