Bio: Leszek Dutka belonged to the Polish studio ceramics tradition of the 20th century, in which ceramic artists increasingly worked sculpturally rather than functionally. During the 1960s and 1970s, ceramic reliefs and wall objects became an important artistic medium, characterised by organic forms, expressive glazes and highly individual, unique works. Dutka’s pieces from this period reflect this development through a strong emphasis on materiality, movement and colour interplay.
