A characteristic work by the Swedish painter Pär Nordlander (1920–2001), executed in a modernist idiom influenced by Cubism. Through rhythmic, geometric forms and a subdued palette of earthy tones, contrasted with cool blue surfaces, Nordlander creates an abstracted vision of a coastal cityscape. The piece reflects the artist’s particular ability to combine strict compositional structure with an atmospheric sense of color, qualities that have made his urban and harbour motifs highly sought after among collectors.
