Aluminia was a Danish faience factory founded in 1863 by Philip Schou in Copenhagen. The factory was particularly known for producing faience with underglaze decoration. In 1969, the Aluminia name was discontinued when the company was fully integrated into the Royal Copenhagen Porcelain Manufactory.
The Tranquebar pattern was introduced in 1914, inspired by Danish colonial history in the town of Tranquebar in India. It is characterized by a blue, Oriental-inspired design with floral motifs and a distinctive braided border. The series was produced in both faience and porcelain and remains highly sought after by collectors.
