Kähler was founded in 1839 in Næstved, Denmark, by Herman J. Kähler and later gained international acclaim under the leadership of his son, Herman A. Kähler. The factory became renowned for its art ceramics in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, especially for its iconic red-brown glazes and collaborations with prominent artists such as Svend Hammershøi and Thorvald Bindesbøll. Kähler became a center for Danish design and craftsmanship, playing a key role in the development of Danish ceramic tradition. Production in Næstved ceased in the mid-20th century, but the Kähler name continues today as a respected design brand.
