Biography:
Eva Jancke-Björk (1882–1981) was a Swedish ceramic artist, designer, and craftswoman, known for her simple, functional, and aesthetically refined ceramics. She was educated at the Higher School of Industrial Art in Stockholm and later in Germany and Austria, where she was inspired by modern European design.
She worked, among others, for Rörstrand and Bo Fajans, creating both unique pieces and mass-produced works. Her design language was characterized by clean lines, soft shapes, and subdued glazes, often drawing inspiration from nature and the Nordic design tradition.
Jancke-Björk was also active as a teacher and contributed to promoting Swedish crafts throughout the 20th century. Today, her work is represented in museums such as the Nationalmuseum in Stockholm and the Röhsska Museum in Gothenburg.
