Carl-Henning Pedersen (1913-2007) was a member of the Cobra movement, which existed from 1948 to 1951. Here he found like-minded artists who shared the idea of art based on freedom, imagination and spontaneity. He received the Eckersberg Medal in 1950 and the Guggenheim Prize in 1958. His international breakthrough came in 1962, when he was Denmark's official representative at the Venice Biennale.
