Height 10 cm.To remove the gray tone glass could get, manganese would be added to the glass. This helped to clean the mass and give the glass a whiter color. At times the glass mass took too much color and then got a purple or pink color, like this glass.
Christian the 8th is one of the most well known Danish glass, due to its long period of production. It was made until World War II.
It is one of the most comprehensive Danish series of glass. It is made in 18 different sizes from both Holmegaard and Kastrup Glassworks.
Today it is impossible to tell the glass of these two glassworks apart.
It is named after the last sovereigning Danish king, Christian d. 8. He ruled from 1839 to 1848, when Denmark passed from being a absolut kingdom to being a democracy.
