Smokey topaz hyacint vase

Price: 450.- DKK per item

Height 20.5 cm.

The color is difficult to show in the picture. In sunlight, it is more smoky topaz, purple brown, than it is in the pictures.
Hyacinth glass is a longtime tradition, originally from France.
Queen Marie Antoinette filled Versailles with fragrant flower bulbs, hyacinths in glass vases made for it, with space for the bulb at the top, so that it did not touch the water and thereby got spoiled.

This model was manufactured at Fyens Glasværk from 1890 until 1930 in a lot of different colors. Similar models have been made at Holmegaard and Aalborg Glasswork.
