Bio:
Royal Copenhagen was founded in Copenhagen in 1775 as the Royal Porcelain Factory. The Flora Danica service was begun in 1790 and ranks among the factorys most significant creations. Its decorations are based on botanical illustrations from the Flora Danica publication, with each plant specimen executed by hand with meticulous botanical precision. The service is particularly distinguished by its naturalistic plants, extensive gilding and technically demanding reticulated borders.
