Sculptural vase in heavy mould-blown glass with a pronounced organic relief texture. The glass graduates from clear and pale at the base to warm amber-brown and cognac tones around the heavily modelled upper section. Signed Kai Blomqvist and Kumela. The model was produced for Kumela in Riihimäki, Finland.

Bio:
Kai Blomqvist (b. 1939) is a Finnish glass designer who worked with Kumela in Riihimäki. His glass designs are characterised by sculptural forms, pronounced relief effects and a strong interest in the material qualities of glass. Blomqvist was among the artists who designed models for Kumela, where art-glass production encompassed both traditionally blown glass and newer manufacturing techniques.
