Swedish Art Deco box on four feet.

Rectangular Swedish pewter box with a rounded body, flat lid with engraved geometric decoration along the border and four curved feet. Designed in a style characteristic of Swedish Art Deco and classicism in the early 1930s. Marked with Swedish silver hallmarks and the date letter E8 for 1931.

Condition: Excellent condition with minor signs of wear. Small dent to the lid.

Bio:
Swedish silversmithing around 1930 was characterised by the transition from the classicism of the 1920s towards a more restrained and functional design language. Silver objects from this period often combined simple geometric forms with discreet engraved decoration and stylised details. The Swedish date-letter system allows hallmarked silver objects to be dated precisely; E8 corresponds to 1931.
