Marcello Ziliani for Arteluce, Wall Lamp.

Italian wall lamp in cast aluminium, featuring a broad, finely ribbed shade and a rounded wall mount. The lamp is the “Charlie” model, designed in 1994, with a shade that casts indirect light both upwards and downwards. Bearing the original Arteluce label.

Marcello Ziliani is an Italian architect and industrial designer, born in Brescia in 1963. He graduated in architecture from the Politecnico di Milano in 1988, with the renowned designer Achille Castiglioni as his supervisor. After working in France for three years, he returned to Italy, where he focused on product, furniture and lighting design.

Ziliani’s work is characterised by sculptural forms, technical innovation and a well-balanced combination of functionality, comfort and visual lightness. He has collaborated with numerous renowned Italian manufacturers, including Arteluce, for whom he designed the “Charlie” lamp, as well as Casprini, Pedrali, S•CAB, Ethimo, Opinion Ciatti and Very Wood.

His extensive body of work encompasses furniture, lighting, home accessories, office furnishings and bathroom fittings. Ziliani has received several international design awards, including a Good Design Award, and his work has been selected for both the ADI Design Index and the prestigious Compasso d’Oro. Since 2011, he has also taught product design at the University of San Marino.
