Bio:
Lars Bertle (1925–2022) was a Swedish visual artist from Helsingborg. Largely self-taught, he became professionally active as an artist during the 1960s. Bertle’s oeuvre includes landscapes, figure subjects, still lifes, and abstract compositions, frequently distinguished by an expressive, colouristic language and vigorous, textural handling of paint. Nature was an important source of inspiration, although his subjects were often liberated from naturalistic representation in favour of colour, rhythm, and painterly energy. His work is represented in several Swedish public collections, including Helsingborg Museum, Landskrona Museum, and through the Swedish National Public Art Council.
