Bio:
Bernard Rooke (born 1938 in Ipswich) is a British ceramic artist known for his sculptural stoneware works with pronounced relief decoration and richly textured surfaces. He studied painting and lithography at Ipswich School of Art from 1955 to 1959 and continued at Goldsmiths College in London, where he began working with ceramics. In 1960, he established a studio in Forest Hill, London, with ceramicist Alan Wallwork, before moving his practice to Swilland, Suffolk, in 1967. Rooke gained international recognition for ceramic sculptures, vases, lamps and large-scale commissions, and his work is represented in several public museum collections.
