Bio:
Carl Josef Emanuel Baldestam (1909–1975) was a Swedish painter and draughtsman born in Karlshamn. He studied at the Skånska målarskolan in Malmö and also pursued studies in Denmark. Baldestam worked with figure studies, street scenes, still lifes and coastal landscapes, particularly subjects from Skåne and Blekinge. His paintings are characterised by a distinctive approach to colour and a free, painterly style.
