Bio:
Umar Tell (1927–2007) was a Swedish painter, draughtsman, sculptor and writer, born in Lund. Largely self-taught, he began painting in the late 1930s. Tell travelled extensively throughout Europe before settling in Paris in 1953, becoming part of the Swedish-French artistic milieu. His artistic development was influenced by figures including Olof Sager-Nelson, Carl Fredrik Hill and John Sten. He exhibited in both Sweden and Paris, including at Vikingsberg Art Museum and the Swedish Club in Paris, and worked across painting, drawing and sculpture.
