Bio:
Hanne Dreutler (1942–2009) was born in Germany and studied at the Kunst Hochschule in Basel from 1959 to 1960 before continuing at Konstfack University of Arts, Crafts and Design in Stockholm from 1961 to 1966. Initially trained as a silversmith, she received a bronze medal for her graduation piece in 1967. She later worked at Målerås, Flygsfors and Kosta Boda, where she met Arthur Zirnsack while both were working under Vicke Lindstrand. Together they founded Studio Åhus in 1977, producing exceptional mouth-blown art glass rooted in the Scandinavian glassmaking tradition and renowned for sophisticated techniques such as sommerso. In 1993 Studio Åhus received the Royal Warrant to the King of Sweden. Following Hanne Dreutler's death in 2009, the studio has continued under the direction of their son, Martin Zirnsack.
