Bio:
Eileen Alice Soper (1905–1990) was a British illustrator, printmaker, and painter. Trained by her father, the artist George Soper, she exhibited at the Royal Academy at the age of fifteen, becoming one of its youngest exhibiting artists. She gained widespread recognition for her sensitive depictions of children at play, rural life, and wildlife, particularly through her accomplished etchings and drawings. Her work found a strong market in both Britain and the United States, and in 1924 Queen Mary purchased her celebrated etching Flying Swings. Today, Soper is regarded as one of the foremost British printmakers and illustrators of the twentieth century.
