Abstract composition executed in oil on board with organic shapes and strong colour fields in blue, red, green, and yellow tones. The overlapping forms and contrasting colours create a vibrant pictorial surface characteristic of Nordic modernist painting of the 1970s. Signed.

Bio:
Tomas Nordbäck (1938–2019) was a Swedish painter and illustrator born in Helsingborg. He made his artistic debut in 1957 and worked mainly in Domsten outside Helsingborg. Nordbäck was a member of the northwest Skåne artist group Differenterna and worked with painting, graphics, and illustration. His works are represented in the collections of the Nationalmuseum in Stockholm as well as museums in Malmö, Lund, Landskrona, and Helsingborg. He also created several public commissions, including the work “Colour Window” for the town hall in Helsingborg and the sculpture “Wish Fountain” at Sundstorget in the same city. From 1988 to 1994 he served as a state art council adviser and later as a member of the Helsingborg Beauty Council.
