Bio:
Lauri Nila (1898–1983) was a Finnish painter associated with the development of modernist painting in Finland during the mid-twentieth century. His work ranges from stylised landscapes to more freely composed abstract paintings in which colour fields and surface structure play an important role. Working primarily in oil, Nila developed a distinctly Nordic visual language characterised by restrained colour harmonies and simplified compositional forms.
