Hans Osswald, abstract composition, oil on board, listed Swedish artist.Abstract composition executed with textured and expressive layers of paint in blue, grey and earthy tones. The surface has a strong material presence with collage-like elements and a graphic structure characteristic of Scandinavian modernist abstraction of the mid-20th century.

Bio:
Hans August Osswald (1919–1983) was a Swedish painter, graphic artist, cartoonist and illustrator born in Örebro. He worked across several media including painting, coloured woodcuts, gouache and book illustration. Osswald developed a distinctive abstract language often incorporating primitive or symbolic motifs inspired by animals and nature. He exhibited separately at Louis Hahne’s art gallery in Stockholm in 1947 and later held exhibitions in Örebro and Kalmar. He also participated in group exhibitions with Dalarnas Art Association, Konstfrämjandet and other travelling exhibitions. His works are represented in the collections of Malmö Museum and Eskilstuna Art Museum.
