Faceted art glass vase in clear glass with encased amber core and geometrically cut sides, produced in the characteristic Murano style with a strong sculptural form.

Bio:
Murano is an island in the Venetian Lagoon that has been the centre of Italian glassmaking since the late 13th century. In 1291 the Venetian authorities ordered glass furnaces to move from Venice to Murano to protect the valuable secrets of glass production and reduce fire risks in the city. Over the centuries Murano glassmakers developed advanced techniques including coloured and layered glass as well as cut and faceted forms. During the mid-20th century Murano gained international recognition for modern art glass, where strong shapes, deep colours and precisely worked glass created striking decorative objects.
