Bio:
Johannes Hedegaard (1915–1999) was a Danish sculptor and ceramic artist, born 21 March 1915 in Helsingør and died 3 July 1999 in Lyngby. He completed his training as a sculptor at Royal Copenhagen in 1935 while also studying at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen. Hedegaard worked for Royal Copenhagen from 1948 to 1966 and is particularly renowned for his partially glazed female busts and figures, combining raw, unglazed surfaces with contrasting glazes. His works are typically signed and numbered and are regarded today as significant examples of Danish post-war ceramic sculpture.
