Bio:
Karl Hansen Reistrup (1863–1929) was a Danish painter, illustrator, sculptor and ceramic artist. From 1888 he worked as artistic director at the Kähler workshop in Næstved, where he played a major role in the development of the factory’s art pottery around the turn of the century. He created numerous ceramic models, especially vases and vessels with animal and relief decoration, often combined with Kähler’s distinctive lustre glazes. His work is considered among the most important contributions to Kähler art pottery of the late nineteenth century.
