Bio:
John Slater (1857–1920) was chief designer and art director at Royal Doulton Lambeth from the late nineteenth century. He played a major role in the development of the Lambeth art pottery tradition and worked closely with a number of artists and decorators. His work is characterised by richly decorated surfaces and innovative glazes that helped establish Royal Doulton’s international reputation in art pottery.
