Bio:
Zsolnay was founded in 1853 in Pécs, Hungary, by Miklós Zsolnay and later developed into an internationally renowned manufactory by Vilmos Zsolnay (1828–1900). The factory is especially celebrated for its iridescent eosin glaze, introduced in 1893, and for pirogranite, a frost-resistant ceramic used for architectural ornamentation. Zsolnay became a hallmark of European Art Nouveau and later Modernism, and the factory remains operational in Pécs today.
