Mari Simmulson for Upsala Ekeby, pitcher.Tall, slender glazed ceramic pitcher with a narrow neck and single handle. The lower section is decorated with a strict graphic pattern of dots and vertical lines in white against a brown ground glaze, while the upper section is finished in white glaze. The rhythmic decoration gives the piece a clear modernist character. Model number 4564.

Bio:
Mari Simmulson (1911–2000) was a Swedish ceramic artist and designer who worked for many years at Upsala Ekeby. She is recognised for her boldly graphic decoration, where repetition, rhythm and contrast are central elements. Her work from the 1950s and 60s reflects the Scandinavian modernist emphasis on clarity of form, functionality and decorative discipline. Upsala Ekeby was among Sweden’s leading ceramic producers of the period, and its production is today highly regarded by collectors.
