Woodcut, Laban and his Daughters, 1978.
Description:
Åke Holm, Sweden.Woodcut, Laban and his Daughters, 1978.
A powerful religious motif depicting the patriarch Laban holding his two daughters in his arms. The composition is reduced to bold, dark contours set against a pale ground, lending the work a monumental and iconic presence. Holm here merges biblical narrative with an expression that balances archaic weight and modern austerity.
