Description:
Pepita glass made at a Danish glassworks in the 1860s.Height 6.5 cm. Both glasses have a hollow base and are thick in sides.
Pepita de Oliva was a Spanish ballet dancer who visited Copenhagen in 1858 and caused a lot of attention.
It may be that the copenhagens citizens was fascinated by her Southern Italian being, that she was a woman and had traveled Europe and of course, not least her ability as a ballet dancer.
Several Danish glassworks produced items named after her, among other things flasks with her inside as a figure and these egg-shaped liqueurs or schnapps glasses.
