Margrethe d.I. drinking cup in partially gilded sterling silver made by Johannes H. Poulsen, goldsmith in Copenhagen from 1957-76. Stamp: 925S Joh. M.P. Denmark.The cup measures: H:6,8cm. Dia.:8cm.and has engraving on the bottom (Claus 29-9-1957)
The Margrethe cups is named after Queen Margrethe I, who was afraid of being poisoned, that she let seven drink from a cup before than she drank.
Therefore a Margaret cup has eight curves, so there was a curve for each taster and one for the Queen.
